When the Shift Feels Heavy

Published On: September 29, 2026By

Whether you’ve just wrapped up an exhausting 12-hour shift, carried a heavy burden for a patient or loved one, or simply feel drained by the demands of this season, remember this truth: God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness.

When your heart feels weary and your physical, mental, or emotional tank is on empty, you don’t have to carry it all on your own shoulders.

This week’s encouragement & practical steps:

  1. Anchor in Truth: Take 2 minutes before or after your shift to ground yourself in 2 Corinthians 12:9—“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

  2. Release the Weight: On your drive home or walk to your car, name three heavy things from today and intentionally hand them over to God in prayer.

  3. Practice Micro-Rest: Step outside for 5 minutes during a break to feel the morning or evening air, reset your breath, and recalibrate your thoughts.

No matter how overwhelming today felt, know that your work, your care, and your obedience do not go unseen. Keep going—He is supplying the strength for each step.
